My Conclusion
After researching many of my ancestors, if i had to choose one to meet in person, i think that it would definitely be Hyrum Smith. I grew up going to church and learning about Hyrum Smith, without even knowing I was related to him. I think that I was about 10 years old when I actually found out. I remember telling all my friends at church that I was actually related to a hero. Hyrum is one of the reasons that me, and millions of others are members of the Church of Latter-Day Saints. This is extremely important to me, and I can't even imagine meeting him in real life. In a way, Hyrum Smith contributed to the American Dream. Part of the American Dream is equality, and freedom. We all have the natural right to practice any religion we want, and thanks to Hyrum, many are able to practice what they believe in. |  |
This project has taught me so much, and it was a different kind of learning than I'm used to. Instead of getting lectured and taking notes, I was doing it all by myself. I had to research and learn about my past and my ancestors without a teacher looking over my shoulder and giving me instructions. It was more difficult, but i feel like I got a lot more out of it than if I had just been given the information to read. I think that I have gained important skills from doing this project, because soon enough, I will be on my own. This has been one of the hardest projects I ever been assigned to do, but Its also been one of the most beneficial to my learning. the skills that I learned were researching, citing, creating a website, and working on my own. I never thought that I would ever build my own website, and to be honest, I thought it was impossible when I found out that it was required of me. but in the long run, I have learned so much about the internet and using it for researching skills, which will help me in the future. From this project, I have realized how important research and ancestry is in my life.
 | To make this project a better learning experience, I would perhaps add a timeline, so that we can lay out all the events and people from our project and get an overall view of everything together. I also wish that we would have done a sample works cited page before we started the project. Overall, I think that the project was a great learning experience and well organized. |
I don't think that I would like to do future research papers this way because of the constant problems with the internet, and the extra effort we have to put in to cite pictures. I did enjoy this project very much, but I think that it should be a one year thing because of the massive amount of work it takes.
